Sequelmania... Produzent Gregg Hoffman hat bestätigt, daß in der Tat "Saw 3" in Planung gegangen ist. Auch dieses Mal wird es u.U. wieder ein Fast-Track-Projekt. Anvisierter Start ist Halloween nächsten Jahres.

Lions Gate hat sich die Domain Saw3.com bereits gesichert. Darsteller und Regisseur stehen noch nicht fest.

Naja wenn es bei Teil 2 geklappt hat, warum nicht bei Teil 3?
Vor 2 Jahren kannte den Streifen noch keiner, wer hätte mit so nem Erfolg gerechnet? Solange die Qualität stimmt find ich die Sache riesig. Hoffentlich werden sie nach der Trilogie nicht größenwahnsinnig, denn wie sowas endet wissen wir ja.

Um on topic zu werden: Werd mir erst mal Teil 2 anschauen, Sneaky Sneak ist ja evtl. auch drin (auch wenn ich mich lange nicht mehr entsinnen kann, einen Kinowelt-Sneak gesehen zu haben), regulär dauerts ja noch ein bisschen.

Lionsgate, the leading independent filmed entertainment studio, and Twisted Pictures today announced plans to develop and produce Saw III, the next film in the psychologically intense and disturbing horror franchise, for an October 27, 2006 wide release. Saw II set a Lionsgate record with a three-day opening weekend of $31.7 million last Halloween, becoming the widest release in Lionsgate history and achieving one of the best opening weekends ever for a horror sequel. With a domestic box office of over $87 million and more than $148 million in worldwide theatrical box office, Saw II easily eclipsed the $55 million domestic box office total of the original Saw. Saw and Saw II have grossed nearly $250 million in combined worldwide box office.

Saw II debuted as the #1 DVD in North America two weeks ago, becoming the fastest-selling theatrical DVD release in Lionsgate history with 3.9 million units sold in its first week alone. The movie was also released on VHS and UMD. The "Saw" franchise has sold nearly 10 million units to date for Lionsgate.

"Yes, there will be more blood," said Block and Constantine. "'Saw III' will involve the same creative forces responsible for the tremendous success of 'Saw II'. The Twisted team of Mark and Oren, along with Darren, James and Leigh, have all agreed to be prominently involved in 'Saw III'. Lionsgate und Twisted Pictures haben heute ihre Pläne bezüglich Saw 3 bekannt gegeben. Der dritte Teil der extrem lukrativen Horrorreihe wird in den USA am 27. Oktober, pünktlich zu Halloween, in die Kinos kommen.

Der Film wird wieder von Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw 2) inszeniert, die Geschichte stammt vom bewährten Team Leigh Whannell und James Wan. Ersterer wird auch das Drehbuch verfassen. Mark Burg und Oren Koules von Twisted Pictures bilden abermals das Produzentenpärchen.

Saw 2 sorgte letztes Jahr für ein Rekord-Dreitages-Wochenende mit 31,7 Millionen Dollar für Lionsgate. 148 Millionen Dollar an weltweitem Einspielergebnis dürften die Entscheidung für ein weiteres Sequel wesentlich erleichtert haben.

Die Saw 2-DVD wurde vor zwei Wochen in Nordamerika veröffentlicht und wurde mit 3,9 Millionen verkauften Exemplaren zum Megahit für Lionsgate.

Das Gemetzel geht weiter. Mit "Saw 3" kommt bereits der dritte Teil des erfolgreichen Horrorspektakels in die Kinos. In bekannter "Saw"-Manier wird auch das zweite Sequel dem meist jugendlichen Publikum viel Blut und Gewalt bieten. In den USA wird das Werk ab dem 27. Oktober 2006 in den Kinos zu sehen sein.

Darren Lynn Bousman wird nach "Saw 2" auch beim dritten Teil Regie führen. Der Horrorschocker hatte am Premierenwochenende eine Rekordsumme von 31 Millionen Dollar eingespielt. Produziert wird "Saw 3" wieder von Mark Burg and Oren Koules. Drehbuchautor Leigh Whannell hat zwar noch keine Details verraten, verspricht aber den "Saw" Fans ein anspruchsvolles Spektakel. Reprising their original franchise roles for Saw III are Tobin Bell, recently nominated for the 2006 MTV Movie Award for Best Villain, as "Jigsaw," and Shawnee Smith as "Amanda." Portraying "Lynn" is rising star Bahar Soomekh, who gave a breakthrough performance in Lionsgate's Academy Award®-winning Crash and is now starring opposite Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible III. Rounding out the cast are Angus MacFadyen (Braveheart) as "Jeff," and Dina Meyer, reprising her role as "Kerry."

Production on Saw III starts May 8th in Toronto and is expected to wrap by the end of June. The producers are Mark Burg, Oren Koules and the late Gregg Hoffman, to whom the film will be dedicated.
